Jäynä competition

Fuksi Series

The Fuksi series is a large and important part of the Tampere Jäynä competition, even though its duration is only a fraction of the entire competition. The Fuksi series determines what everyone is waiting for – the tekkari dipping order! The Fuksi series is overall a two-week intensive sprint.

Eligibility

All new students in technical fields, i.e., Fuksis, are eligible to participate. In this case, students who started in autumn 2024 and spring 2025 may participate.

Team

The team consists of Fuksis from one (1) guild, meaning all Jäynä participants must be Fuksis from the same guild.

Prizes

The winning guild gets to enter the Tammerkoski first in the Teekkari dipping. The winning guild receives a plaque on the Jäynä Bell and they get to ring the bell throughout the dipping day. In autumn, the Jäynä Bell is moved to the Teekkari Museum to await the next Wappu.

Additionally, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive unique Jäynä merchandise!

Implementation

The implementation area is the land, water, and airspace of Pirkanmaa. Read the rules carefully!

Also remember that Jäynäs are done at your own risk, within the boundaries of Finnish law, and with good taste.

Patenting

In the Fuksi series, patenting the Jäynä concept is mandatory. Patents can be submitted for two (2) different ideas. The patent form can be found on the "participate" tab.

After the patenting period ends, the Ylituomari reviews all patents and approves those that are suitable for implementation. The Jäynä may only be implemented after the Ylituomari has approved the patent.

Jäynä submission / JäynäBox

The submission has traditionally been a spectacular event in itself, for which the idea can be taken directly from the Jäynä or from somewhere completely different. Remember to arrange the necessary permits for this as well - for example, using a smoke machine without permission from facility services is prohibited!

A good Jäynä submission acts as a decisive factor in case of a tie.
