I About Jäynäs and the Jäynä Competition
§1 The purpose of the Jäynä competition is to preserve Jäynä traditions, promote Teekkari culture, and elevate the Teekkari spirit.
§2 The purpose of the Jäynä competition is to perform Jäynäs that are as fun, timely, attention-grabbing, Teekkari tradition-preserving, and positively representative of Teekkari culture as possible. The purpose of a Jäynä is to benevolently bring joy to oneself, the target of the Jäynä, and the general public. A Jäynä does not seriously take a position on religion or politics. It is surprising in nature and uses technological means. A Jäynä can be short or long in duration. A Jäynä does not insult, desecrate, damage, steal, or destroy. A Jäynä does not cause financial, mental, or physical harm to anyone. A Jäynä must not target police or rescue authorities in any form.
II Competition Performance
§3 Jäynäs performed during the general series competition period participate in the general series of the Tampere Jäynä competition. The winners of the Jäynä spring will represent Tampere in the following National Jäynä competition. If the winners are not willing to participate in the National Jäynä competition, the Ylituomari will appoint a team for it. Jäynäs performed in the Fuksi series determine the order of Fuksis in the Teekkari dipping so that the winners are dipped first.
§4 A competition entry consists of at least one (1) Jäynä.
III Teams and the Ylituomaristo
§5 A team consists of at least one (1) Jäynä participant and in the general series a maximum of ten (10) members. At least 50% of the team members must be students at Tampere university or Tampere university of applied sciences. If desired, a team can participate in the Jäynä competition under a pseudonym, but the true identities of the participants must be disclosed to the jury. In the Fuksi series, all team members must be Fuksis from the same guild.
§6 All teams that have registered according to the instructions given at the Jäynä spring opening event participate in the competition.
§7 Participants are themselves responsible for all their actions during the competition. The submitted material must be publishable. The Tampere Jäynä competition has permission to share and present the submitted material.
§8 The competition is guided and supervised by an authoritative jury. The jury consists of 5-15 persons, and at least one (1) of them must be a member of the Tampere Teekkaris board. Additionally, the jury includes representatives from the student union board, a student union employee, the Fuksi Council, and the organizing body of the competition. Teekkarien PerinneSeura appoints the jury and the chairperson of the jury, the Ylituomari.
IV Time and Place
§9 The Jäynä period for the general series of the Jäynä competition begins at the Jäynä competition opening on February 20, 2025.
§10 The Jäynä competition ends on April 23, 2025.
§11 The competition area is the land, air, and water territories of Pirkanmaa.
V Judging and Announcement of Results
§12 In judging the competition, special attention is paid to the matters mentioned in paragraph 2. Teams should pay special attention to the verifiability of their Jäynäs. This can happen either verbally, in writing, monumentally, visually, magnetically, or otherwise by bringing the performed Jäynäs to the attention of the Ylituomaristo during the judging event. Children must not be targeted by Jäynäs.
§17 These rules are interpreted by the Ylituomari of the competition.
